Senegal Airlines has appointed ECS Group as its worldwide air cargo general sales and service agent.
The global agreement sees ECS responsible for marketing the cargo capacity of some 180 Senegal Airlines’ flights per week across an extensive international network in Africa that also includes Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Gabon, Gambia, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Mali, Mauritania and Niger.
To and from Dakar, the airline operates Airbus A320 and ATR passenger and cargo aircraft. ECS expects to move cargoes such as industrial spare parts, electronic equipment and pharmaceuticals across the Senegal Airlines network.
Adrien Thominet, Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing for ECS Group, said: “We are extremely proud and honoured that Senegal Airlines has chosen ECS Group as its global GSA partner. It has a prime network in Africa and this is a market we know very well. In the first half of 2012, the airline plans to launch a new wide-body flight from Paris. This will not only provide a direct feed from Europe into markets across Africa,
it will also support the requirements of the Senegalese business community and industry.
“Once again, this is a reflection of the value for airlines of working with ECS, using our established and fast-growing international sales network and proven relationships with the freight forwarding industry. This is the latest in a number of global GSSA agreements we have gained and we believe more carriers will be looking closely at the value of adopting such a business model to boost their margins.”
